An SRS is basically an organization's understanding (in writing) of a customer or potential client's system requirements and dependencies at a particular point in time (usually) prior to any actual design or development work. It's a two-way insurance policy that assures that both the client and the organization understand the other's requirements from that perspective at a given point in time.

Four Neat Article Writing Tricks for Generating Unique Content

Posted: 04 Apr 2009 11:43 PM PDT

You cannot develop a credible online footprint unless you regularly blog and submit original articles to article directories. Search engine robots now crawl through blogs and article directories for new content like ants crawl deadwood.

Article directories litter the internet landscape but it's not necessary to submit articles to many of them. Just stick to two good ones to use on a regular basis – unless you have a staff of writers, you'll have your hands full writing content for your blog, website, and article directories.

Now, search engines love blogs and article directories but they don't like duplicated content. Therefore, if you want to submit the same article to your blog and directories you have to modify the article to generate as many uniquely different versions as necessary.

DupeCop.com is a duplicate content checking tool you can use to compare your original article to your modified version and find out how unique the latter is. Ensure your modified version is at least 35% uniquely different from the original.

Here are four tactics you can use to generate a uniquely different article from an original:

1) Use a different headline. This is a no-brainer. Even without using DupeCop to compare, two articles don't give the impression of being uniquely different if they have the same headlines

2) Switch sentences around. Modify your original article by switching the positions of sentences within the same paragraph or switching them between paragraphs. Ensure that you maintain the flow and understanding of these paragraphs after you switch them. If you can change sentences by using completely different words and phrases – perhaps because you have a vast and impressive vocabulary – then that's even better

3) Use bullets. For your original article, use as many bullets as possible to make your points. Then have fewer or more bullets in the modified version. This trick alone should significantly raise your unique rating on DupeCop

4) Switch paragraphs around. In addition to switching sentences, also switch paragraphs around to create a different version from your original. Again, be careful not to compromise a reader's understanding of your article when you do this.

Using just one or two of these tricks won't get you an article uniquely different from an original piece. In most instances, especially when you compare on DupeCop, you have to use a combination of most or all of these tricks to get the best result.

You Get What You Pay For ~ Hiring Writers

Posted: 04 Apr 2009 02:51 PM PDT

So, I’ll admit it; I’m starting over. Not just in life, but in career as well.

Six years ago I lived in the USA, had a successful career as a writer for Houston-based oil & gas firms, was married 20 years to the same guy, and had a nice home complete with gorgeous lawn and all the trappings that goes with an upper-middle-class living. Five years ago, it all went away. I got knocked down; and I’m only now standing up again. But I am the bionic chick ~ and I am determined to build a new life; better, stronger, faster than before. So what’s this got to do with hiring writers? It’s simple. Either things have changed or I had the luck of missing this side of writing until now.

Last month, I hooked up with this Texas-based writing service. Their forte? Articles for SEO and online marketing purposes. It sounded cool, so I said, “Let’s give this a go.” The first week was my trial—turn the content of 10 marketing videos into 10 articles. The turn-around was two days. Done. Dusted. The next assignment was more intense; more work, less turn-around time. And so it went until I was asked to write 32 300-600 word qualityarticles on 16 different topics in five days. No research provided. My response? “WTF?” It was then explained to me how this genre works:

“These articles are designed to be quick- 3 to 5 per hour, as their primary purpose is marketing for online websites.”

When I delivered the final product, I also delivered my “good-bye and good luck “ speech. I can’t do it; not with a clear conscience. Not and maintain my integrity. Certainly not without sacrificing pride in my work.

When anyone settles for mass-producing quick turn-around articles, they’ve ceased to be a writer. Because, that is not what writing is about. And I have to wonder at the people who expect that level of production. What does it say about them? About their business? I wouldn’t trust a company that pays a writer £2 per hour to mass produce articles. If they cut corners there; then they’ll cut them anywhere.

Maybe I’m just too old-fashioned. Writing is about passion—even if you’re selling back boilers. And quality should always be more important than quantity. Always.
