Le téléthon 2008 fait mieux qu'en 2007

Posted: 09 Apr 2009 01:31 PM PDT

Same Day paycheck advances

By Andrew John Jones Payday Loans have come in for heavy criticism recently; however, if they are used wisely, in the way they are designed to be used, they are an excellent source of instant cash. They are suposed to be used for a very brief time, ie until your next payday (hence the name Payday Loans). When used in this way, they are an excellent resource to get access to emergency money reserves. When you look at the interest rates which are normally 500%-900%, they seem very high.

Daring Fireball: Obsession Times Voice

Posted: 09 Apr 2009 12:39 PM PDT

"My muse for the session was this quote from Walt Disney: "We don't make movies to make money, we make money to make more movies." To me, that's it. That's the thing. / [...] / No one gets into something like this without an obsession, but if your obsession is with the money, and your revenue is directly correlated to page views, then rather than write or produce anything with any actual merit or integrity, you'll dance like a monkey and split your articles across multiple "pages" and spend more time ginning up sensational Digg-bait headlines than writing the articles themselves. It's thievery — not of money, but of readers' attention." / [...] / The entire quote-unquote "pro blogging" industry — which exists as the sort of pimply teenage brother to the shirt-and-tie SEO industry — is predicated on the notion that blogging is a meaningful verb. It is not. The verb is writing. The format and medium are new, but the craft is ancient."

Andy Baio describes, researches, and provides a variety of solutions to sites that excerpt (or fully copy) posts by other bloggers and confuse the attribution. This is a topic that the journalist student in me is wildly interested in still. Oh, and it's always great to read an article online and think "I should show this to Andrew" and then I see that he's already commented on it. He's always one step ahead of me that guy.

Who the Hell Is Enrolling in Journalism School Right Now?

Posted: 08 Apr 2009 02:30 PM PDT

Who the hell are all these people enrolling in journalism schools? Forbes has reported today that enrollment is soaring, even though nearly one-sixth of newspaper jobs have evaporated since 2001, and those left pay an average of $40,000 a year— just slightly more than journalism school will cost you. I know people do crazy things in a recession, but taking out a student loan for a degree that won't give an edge in a wheezing industry actually makes getting an MBA look smart. It's not that I'm pessimistic about the future for good journalists. Quite the opposite, in fact. Journalism isn't dying; it's just in a period of extreme volatility. And in any time of volatility, there's huge room for opportunity. But you're not going to learn how to exploit it in a stuffy classroom taught by people who got there by working at newspapers.

A bunch of my articles just went up on Ehow. Is there anything I can help you with?

My pride and joy is an article about how to cage a cat, because I learned all those lessons the hard way, but that one isn’t up yet.
