Stinking content

creative writerFor all those who are unaware, my ultimate goal as of 12/10/09 is to become a writer. Not a journalist, but a writer. Creative writer, if you may!

Juggling college and writing is not a difficult thing and it shouldn't be! But for any talent to get recognized, polishing it is absolutely essential. And for that very reason, I open my Gmail inbox to find tips and tricks on smart writing everyday! I admit, I have no Chetan Bhagat or Aarvind Adiga in my family to tell me what to do and how to pursue this goal. I have no godfather in the writing business either. But that shouldn't stop me from getting what I want, right?

So, I learn as I go and one of the basic things I ever learnt about writing articles, blogs or any other piece that provides information, is that my content should stink!

Surprised?

Don't be!

Infact, it should stink like fish!

A vegetable market in India, or a sabzi mandi, as many would call it, gives the fish section its due place in the vicinity. Now, people who are new to that place may or may not know where to get their daily requirement of protein from and may get confused looking for shops. But if they are in the Sabzi mandi, they will automatically find the place. How? Because of the stink! That's right! Dead fish sells itself because of it’s stink.

Now, Imagine what my writing can do if it stinks!

To create an impact with words, it is absolutely necessary to have a thorough understanding of the subject and the ability to produce a crisp and precise article targeting the right audience. If you manage to do that, half the battle is won.

Now, I may not be able to make my writing stink in the literal sense of the word, but if I can manage to keep my readers captivated with it, I serve my purpose. That said, I think everything else is pretty much self – explanatory.
