| Is Google Making Us Stupid? - Magazine - The Atlantic Posted: 04 May 2010 12:25 AM PDT "The brain," according to Olds, "has the ability to reprogram itself on the fly, altering the way it functions." Old media have little choice but to play by the new-media rules. What Taylor did for the work of the hand, Google is doing for the work of the mind. "For us, working on search is a way to work on artificial intelligence." - Google founder Larry Page "Certainly if you had all the world's information directly attached to your brain, or an artificial brain that was smarter than your brain, you'd be better off." - Google founder Sergey brin Page; Google is "really trying to build artificial intelligence and to do it on a large scale." |

| 3 Questions You Must Ask Yourself Everyday! Posted: 03 May 2010 03:51 PM PDT Mondays are not my favorite day of the week. Coming back into the office, dealing with crap I let go from Friday. It’s just not a day I can get my groove going. Maybe you can relate? But, as much as I hate Mondays, I also hate not getting stuff done. I hate not helping someone! And, even though getting my groove on to start the week is, and can be, a real drag…not accomplishing things feels even worse. Emails, marketing, copywriting, article writing, SEO, website updates, bill paying, client retention…. the list goes on. Too many hats and not enough time in the day to wear them. I see you nodding your head…I know darn well, you can relate! Let me ask you three questions! #1 What did you do today? For the sake of simplicity…let’s start with & review question one! What did you do today? Sounds simple enough, right? Maybe! You see, most people can’t remember when they get home from the office (or if they work at home and leave their desk) what they did that day. They had no agenda. No way of keeping themselves accountable for the days work. They just tried to tackle whatever and hope for the best. And worse, they end up doing meaningless work or work they could have handed to someone else. What problems did you run into? Most entrepreneurs do indeed wear too many hats. When problems occur, they are too focused on trying to fix the problem that they forget that they are in business to make money not fix things. Onto the last and toughest question… What can someone else do to help you? Relinquishing command is the toughest thing most entrepreneurs will ever face. Yet, by not doing so, they are trapping themselves in a vicious cycle and worse, they are not freeing themselves from the day-to-day mundane things which prevent them from making real money. Hire an assistance, a temp or an inturn and start giving them some of the $10 an hour work that you’re currently doing. By forcing yourself to review these questions everyday before you leave for home (or your desk, if at home), you will start to see patterns in your business that need help or that you shouldn’t be doing. You will notice that you are spending way too much time doing tasks that are bogging your down. And, hopefully you’ll make changes that will benefit your bottom line. Until next time, “Live with passion” Rob Anspach P.S. Track your day, allow others to help you, eliminate problems and you’ll make more money! |
