Hello,

Thank you very much for visiting this page.

What I offer

I offer to write articles, blogs, reviews, essays, reports, etc. Some of these may serve as the content to fill web-pages and therefore, my services can also be termed as content-writing. Here are the details of what I offer to write:

Articles

Blogs

Reviews

Essays

Reports

Articles can be on anything. Blogs are nothing but articles. Reviews can be about a certain movie, TV programme, etc. Essays are more or less the same as articles and can be on any topic. Reports can cover events such as a game of cricket, football, tennis, etc. and other live events, which have live TV coverage.

Internet-based

As soon as I am given a topic, I search the internet for websites which have information on it. I sift through the material that comes up, collate what is relevant and sufficient, organize the whole matter into an article in accordance with stipulated specifications. The article can be a mere collection of information, that is, just a copy-pasting work. Or, if the order calls for it, it can be an article that digests the material, forms an appropriate opinion, view or stand, and substantiates it. I can also go a step further by even recommending a certain course of action which looks best. These requirements, which the output can be made to satisfy, are listed below for the sake of transparency:

Type 1.   Just a copy-pasting work.

Type 2.   Give the relevant information, think and take an independent view. For example, there may be a requirement to take a firm stand whether something is good or not, and substantiate the stand.

Type 3.   Recommend the best course of action.

Live Events

Matches:          If I am asked to email a report on an event which becomes available to me on my TV live, I should be able to do so. For example, I can cover Grand Slams (tennis), one day Internationals (cricket), football matches, shuttle badminton, and so on, provided, their live telecast becomes available to me. I receive Star Sports, ESPN, Ten Sports and DD Sports. There may be an assortment of other live events too, which I can cover.

Movies
:                        Movies are telecast much after they are released in theatres. By the time they appear on the small screen, the need for a review may not exist at all. I might be receptive to the idea of myself visiting a theatre, watch a movie on its releasing day itself, and email its review. Here, however, the expenses I incur will also need to be reimbursed fully.

Other events:
The Miss World event due to take place, live, soon, is an example of this. I can watch the whole event on TV, live, and prepare a report.

This list is only illustrative, and not exhaustive.

Specifications

I shall email the article in an MS Word 2007 file having the docx format. It will also be possible for me to send the article in a PDF file. The order will need to indicate the following specifications:

Whether the article is to be emailed in an MS Word 2007 file or a PDF file. If this is not specified, MS Word 2007 will be used.

The maximum number of words the article can contain.

The minimum number of words the article can contain.

The font.  If not specified, Arial will be used.

The font-size. If not specified, the size 10 will be used.

Page size. If not specified, A4 will be used.

Line-spacing. If not specified, the single line spacing will be used.

Spelling. This will depend on the websites from which I collect the material. That is, the material collected from US websites will have the US spelling. Otherwise, the Indian spelling will be used.

Source. A list of the websites relied on for material, will be given at the bottom of the article as an independent part.

Home-based

The work is intended to be done from the comforts of my own home, unless otherwise agreed.

Output

Type 1.             Just a copy-pasting work – A maximum of 2000 words in 24 hours of receipt the firm order

Type 2.             Give the relevant information, think and take an independent view. For example, I can say whether something is good, appropriate, or not – A maximum of 500 words in 48 hours from receipt of the firm order.

Type 3.             Think, take an independent view, and recommend the best course of action – 500 words in 48 hours from receipt of the firm order.

Where I am asked to cover from home an event telecast live, I should be ready to send out the review in a matter of hours, since with every passing minute, other reviews might appear. I don't want to speculate on the length of the event-report. Since the time available will be too short, let us fix 200 words as the maximum.

Firm Order

An order will be considered as a firm order only if 50% of its price is received in advance, along with the order. If the advance payment is not received either along with the order or before, the work will not be undertaken.

Mode of payment

Initially, the payment should be made through postal money order.  Revealing my bank account number, at the outset itself, does not look to be a safe option. PayPal can be another option.

Advance

Till I write this, I have written a total of ten essays upon order.  All those who ordered the essays had expressed their satisfaction about the essays' quality. Three of the essays were written free-of-charge. For all the rest, I was promised payment, but no payment came. After pursuing it for some time, I dropped the matter. It has led me to the decision to insist on 50% advance payment before undertaking any writing work. The 50% advance payment divides the risk equally between the person who orders, and me. Having paid me 50% as advance, he bears its risk until he receives the article from me. Once I email the article, I will bear the risk for the remaining 50% until I receive its settlement.  So, the terms of payment are: I should receive 50% in advance, along with the order, and the remaining 50% within a maximum of seven days after the date on which the article is mailed.  If, for example, the article is mailed on the 1st, payment of the final 50% needs to reach me on or before the 8th, and so on.

Blogs written

a) English

I have written 38 blogs in English.  All of them are available at the URL:

http://www.itimes.com/public/people/sunilmssunilms/blogs

While one of them was a short story, the others were on assorted topics including tennis, stock market, etc. These 38 blogs have received a total of 14408 hits so far. One of them had 5758 hits and had been adjudged the 'Best of 2010' by the website. Seven of these blogs were displayed on the BBC-blog-site of http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/MA14633768?type=2&s_filter=articles&show=25, too.

I have no pretensions that the standard of my English is high. I am not capable of using flowery language. My only claim is that I can express my ideas in English clearly and without grammatical or spelling mistakes.  My blogs on itimes.com are proof.

b) Malayalam

I have written as many as 42 blogs on www.sauhridam.com.  Most of them were in Malayalam. Some of them were Malayalam short stories. They had a total of 1838 hits and 211 comments, so far. Most of these blogs have been displayed on manorama online blog site too.  The short stories displayed on manorama online blogsite have received 2906 hits so far.

c) Hits

The total hits my blogs on these three websites are given below:

On Itimes.com – in English        14408

On Manorama Online Blogs         2906 (blogs other than shortstores are not included)

On Sauhridam.com                      1838

Total                                            19152

Rates

For articles of Type 1:   30 Paise per word for the first 500 words written in 24 hours. If the total number of words written on a single day exceeds 500, 60 paise for each of the words exceeding the first 500 words.

For articles of Type 2:   50 paise per word. (Because, I will have to think and form a view)

For articles of Type 3:   50 paise per word.(Because, I will have to think, form a view, and recommend a course of action)

Event-reports:               100 paise per word. (Because of several reasons: 1) the event-report will demand priority over net-based works which, therefore, may have to be delayed, and 2) unlike net-based material, the event will not become available for a second time for correction and/or expansion of the article, and therefore will require rapt attention whatever be its timing.

Word Count

The word counting facility available in MS Word 2007 will be used for deciding the number of words.

Topic

I have nearly three decades' experience in Indian banking. I am quite familiar with banking, finance, stock market, etc. I have also been closely following the political situation in India. I am interested in movies, novels and other books, gadgets, automobiles, games and sports, music, etc. I have elementary knowledge of HTML.  I do not have any technical background.  There may be several topics which may be too technical for me to understand. The point is, the topic and the exact requirement need to be explained to me in detail and in advance, so that I may appraise my own capabilities and communicate a decision whether I would undertake the work, or wouldn't. Needless to say, please do not send me any advance payment before I express my readiness to undertake the work.

Auto-biographical

If someone is asked to describe how well he has been doing in the past, what his most memorable experience in life is, what his most valuable achievement in life is, what his ambitions are, what his special contribution to the institution would be, and so on, and if he asks me to write these essays for him, I would find it difficult to comply since all these questions are auto-biographical in nature. He himself will be the best person to write such essays. It will be better not to ask me to write such essays.

Delay

Deadlines are to be honoured. For decades, I have lived in environments where deadlines used to be sacred. I will honour deadlines. At the same time, there are a number of factors which can effectively prevent me from honouring deadlines. For example, the power can fail, and my UPS gives me time just enough to shut down the system. Continuous power disruption for nine hours and more had occurred in the past in this area, though rare. Disruptions of shorter durations are frequent. If and when power fails, my work stops. There may be a host of other reasons too, beyond my control, forcing deadlines to be postponed. In case of any such occurrence, my deadlines will get automatically extended to that extent. If there is to be an extention, I will inform you of it. Barring this, I am committed to every deadline. Where I foresee an inordinate delay, I shall send the money back.

Identification

I do not want to enter into a deal without knowing with whom I am dealing. In other words, I do not want to deal with persons who choose to remain anonymous. My full address and email ID are given in this blog for the sake of transparency.  A reciprocation of the same is expected, and is essential, from the persons who intend to deal with me. I value transparency. Internet is a place infested by a multitude of fake persons Hence the insistence.

My name and full postal address are given below:

Mr. M.S.Sunil
Muthiraparampil House
Madaplathuruthu
Moothakunnam P.O.
Ernakulam District
Kerala State
Pin Code: 683516

My email ID is: sunilmssunilms@yahoo.co.in

Email

Email is my preferred mode of communication.  It enables the sender and the recipient to have a proper record of the communication. Telephonic talk will need a confirmation by email. Unless a telephonic talk is confirmed by email, the talk will not have any validity.
The terms and conditions set forth hereinabove may sound to be somewhat harsh.  But I believe, people with genuine intentions will not find it too harsh.

Warm Regards

Time to go public?

Posted: 28 Oct 2011 07:55 AM PDT

I think it’s about time I started to link together all my various aliases and sites – otherwise how will I ever get more work without doing so. I’m just a bit reluctant as I’ve never really been one to push myself to the front of the crowd. But, time moves on and I want this new career to take off.

So to all of you out there in cyberspace, and to all of you who know me in the real world. This is what I’ve been doing in my spare time – writing. This is what I want to do (passionately), and this is how I want to earn my living. One day, hopefully, I’ll get there.

But the question remains, should I try and stick to one name? Be out and proud, or should I keep all my nom de plumes? I don’t want to confuse people. Perhaps I should have thought more about this before I started!

Oh well – here goes everything or nothing… I am a WRITER. Now someone send me some work.
